Why the internet is awesome..
There are a few things I really like about the internet. So, I figured I tell you the most important reasons why I think the internet is awesome.
Scientia potentia est
I’ve learned so many new things thanks to the internet and I still gain knowledge everyday just by surfing the web. By the way, if you want to know what the heading means, just Google it. ;)
Immortality
During the years I’ve been on the internet I’ve signed up on several websites and posted a lot of content. Ofcourse not all of this is preserved, but I’m pretty sure that in twenty, eighty or perhaps even two hundred years you’ll still find a lot of the content I’ve posted the last years. So “immortality” might not be the correct term, but at least my children and grandchildren will still be able to see what I was upto back in 2011.
People!
I met so many great people from all over the world, all thanks to the internet. I met a lot of people through Skype, Hyves, MySpace, Facebook and of course, Twitter. Some of them became very good friends of mine and I’m really glad that I’ve met them! Besides that, how cool is it that I can send data around the world in no-time and that I can speak with someone from the UK or even the US, completely for free? All these innovations might seem usual, but if we didn’t have the internet, we would have never had them.
Sharing
Having an internet connection on my mobile devices has also changed a lot. It enables me to share everything in my life almost instantly, with family, friends, people I’ve met through the internet and even complete strangers, if I’d like too.
Future
The internet already enables so many possibilities. Ofcourse a lot of great inventions have already been done, but the future will only bring more and more technology and therefore even more possibilities. When I compare the today’s internet to the web 10 years ago, it’s mindblowing to see how rapidly things have changed. Therefore I can’t even predict what the internet will look like in 20 years from now. It’s probably some vector-based 3D thing and the only software people will install on their computer by that time will be a webbrowser, because everything is happening in the cloud.
I know this blog is a bit random, but it was stuck in my head for a few days and I just had to share my thoughts.Anyway, what a really wanted to say is:
